2.3.6 Handfuls

After the discard, the players start to play cards. However, before playing her first card, a player can show a number of cards from the trumps suit of her cards, to increase the risk of the taker (better bonus if the taker succeeds, worse penalty if she fails). There are three sizes for a $1, a bigger handful means a higher risk. These are summed up in table Table 2.4. In order to show the required number of cards, the player can show:

• an owned trump;
• the excuse, if she cannot show another owned trump;
• a discarded trump, if she is the taker and cannot do otherwise.
