2.3.5 Dog and discard

Once the taker is designated by the bids, after a possible call, and only if the bid permits it, she takes the dog’s cards and secretly exchanges some or all of these to the same number from her own game.

The taker can discard:

• anything but kings, trumps and oudlers;
• a non-oudler trump, if she has no other cards but kings, trumps and oudlers, but in this case she has to show the discarded trumps to the other players.

The $1 cards will increase the number of points for the taker (the discard belongs to the taker).

In case of a straight keep or a double keep, the taker does not look at the dog, however the dog’s cards count for the points:

• as the taker’s cards in case of a straight keep;
• as the defense’s cards in case of a double keep.
