In some game variants, mainly the “standard” 5-player variant, the taker is allowed to play with a $1
After the slam declaration phase, the taker names a card, and the owner of this card becomes her partner without anyone knowing (since one cannot speak in a tarot game). The teams are then revealed when this specific card is played. In some specific cases, however, there is no partner. In these cases, the taker is at the same time the partner, and she will not share the reward. These cases are summed up in table Table 2.3.
